自立語。自身で意味を持ち、接辞（接頭辞、接尾辞、内部接辞）などを必要とせず単独で意味が成り立つ形態素。

Unlike bound morphemes, a free morpheme can function independently as a complete word in a sentence.

拘束形態素とは異なり、自立形態素は接頭辞・接尾辞・接中辞を必要とせず、それ自体で意味を持って文中で単語として独立して機能することができる。
