昨夏ツンドラの湖でカヤックをしていたとき、アラスカや北カナダのツンドラの深い湖で繁殖する中型のダイバー、太平洋ダイバー（Gavia pacifica）が灰色の頭部、黒い喉、白い腹部、白黒のまだら模様の背を見せながらすーっと泳ぎ去るのを見て感激しました。
