The selectional restrictions imposed by the actions or states in which the pronouns participate can also be used to help determine the possible referent, so that, in the example above, “them” should refer to a plural object that is deleteable. These selectional restrictions are very powerful in limited domains. For instance, in our example domain, only messages are deleteable.
