cycle

the
air

In
it
air
is
taken
by
a
pump
from
a
cold
chamber
and
compressed
adiabatically
until
its
pressure
is
equal
to
that
of
the
air
in
a
hot
chamber,
into
which
it
is
then
delivered,
thereby
displacing
an
equal
amount
of
hot
air
into
the
engine
cylinder.
Here
it
expands
adiabatically
to
the
temperature
of
the
cold
chamber
into
which
it
is
finally
exhausted.
This
cycle,
reversed,
is
used
in
refrigeration.

ジュールサイクル:ジュールが提案した空気エンジンのサイクル。冷室からポンプで空気を取り込み、断熱圧縮によって空気の圧力を加熱室の空気の圧力に等しくし、その後加熱室へ供給され、同等の量の熱い空気をエンジンのシリンダーに押し出す。シリンダー内で空気は断熱膨張し、最終的に冷室へ排出される。このサイクルを逆転させることで冷蔵に利用される。
