中央ドイツ方言の主要な亜群の一つ。主にテューリンゲン、ザクセン、ザクセン＝アンハルト、ブランデンブルク、ベルリンで話され、1945年までは現在のポーランド西部および南部でも広く使われていた。古高ドイツ語の初頭の* p-がpf-（現代では通常f-）に変化している点で、西部中部ドイツ語と区別される。
