It is sometimes necessary to cooperate with a person one does not like or agree with, in order to combat a common threat.

自分の敵の敵は場合によっては友となり得る、つまり共通の脅威に対抗するためには、必ずしも好意を持つ相手とだけ協力する必要はなく、場合によっては不本意な相手とも手を組むことが有効であるという意味を持つ諺です。
