On 21 November 1995, the Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian Presidents initialled a peace agreement in Dayton, Ohio often referred to as the Dayton Peace Agreement (DPA) or Dayton Accords, although known officially as the ‘General Framework Agreement for Peace’ (GFAP). […] The GFAP also called for the deployment of an international armed force, under NATO leadership, of sixty thousand troops to supervise the cessation of hostilities and to provide framework security to enable civilian peace implementation.
