誰かが他人の欠点を非難するとき、それは「やかんが鍋を黒いと非難する」ということだ。

When someone criticizes another for their faults, it's the pot calling the kettle black.

行列では古いことわざ「下り坂ではすべての聖人が助けてくれる」を繰り返し唱えながら、近所の人々全員が像を下ろすために最大限の注意を払って押していた。

In the procession they repeated the old proverb "when going downhill, all the saints help", while all the neighbors pushed the float with the greatest care to bring the image down.

村では「干し草なしでは干し草の山は作れない」と言われ、皆が協力して干し草を集めます。

As they say in the village, "you can't make a haystack without hay," and every hand helps to gather the hay.

古い諺にあるように、知らないことは見えないことのようなもので、知識の欠如は人を不利な立場に置く。

As the old proverb says, not knowing is like not seeing, because a lack of knowledge puts a person at a disadvantage.

I always keep my grandmother's saying in mind: no matter how bad things get, it will clear up eventually, so don't lose hope.

村では、何も永遠に続かないことを思い出させたいとき、ことわざ「一日が過ぎれば祭りも終わる」と言った。

In the village, when someone wanted to remind others that nothing is permanent, they would say the proverb "when the day has passed, the fair is over".

会議でそれぞれが別の案を主張していたとき、私は「各人は自分の専門分野や持ち場に専念すべきだ」ということわざを思い出させ、各自が自分の仕事に専念するよう促しました。

At the meeting, when everyone was defending different proposals, I reminded them of the proverb 'each person should stick to their own area of expertise' and urged each to focus on their own duties.
