Murphy's sign

(medicine) A sign of cholecystitis, etc. identified by the patient experiencing pain when the gall bladder is obstructed on the right-hand side while he/she breathes out.

胆嚢炎などの診断における身体所見。患者が呼気時に右側で胆嚢が圧迫されることにより痛みが誘発される現象。

During the abdominal exam, the physician noted a positive Murphy's sign when the patient winced as pressure was applied beneath the right costal margin.

腹部診察で、医師は右季肋部下に圧を加えた際に患者が顔をしかめたため、マーフィー徴候が陽性であると認めた。
