It was likewiſe propos’d to ſend the Duke de la Rochefoucault thither, and the Prince deſir’d it for ſeveral Reaſons, but he declin’d it, imagining, either that the Peace was already concluded between Monſieur and the Court under-hand by Chavigny, without the Prince’s participation, or that it would not be concluded at that time, not only becauſe the Prince’s Pretenſions were too great, but likewiſe becauſe the Duke of Rohan and Chavigny would ſecure their own preferrably to all the reſt.
