Some other of the marined animals deserve special attention. Sea-horses in the earliest heraldic examples closely resemble the queer fish known by that name (the hippocampus), but classic art had furnished quite another type: the forequarters of a horse, with mane and hoofs, and the hindquarters replaced by a fish's tail.

A little boy, who early discovered propensities to cruelty, was so thoroughly weaned from them, by his mother, that when attending to infantine lessons in Natural History, long before he was able to read, and hearing of a bird that was fond of catching flies, he lisped, with a kind of horror upon his baby[-]face, Oh! kill flies! will God forgive it?

When actions are brought in the Courts of King's Bench or Common Pleas, founded upon original writs issuing out of the Courts of Chancery (which writs, as stated in the Report of the 9th of April 1816, it is the duty of the Cursitors to make out) it has been the practice in certain cases for the Filacers of the Courts of King's Bench and Common Pleas respectively, to receive from the Suitors the King's fines (if any) and also the fees payable to the Cursitors in respect of such original writs, and afterwards to account to the Cursitors for the fines and fees so received.

In the case described by Recasens himself of a pseudohermaphrodite woman there was a formation of testicular appearance on the labia majora; but its histological examination demonstrated that this was not a gonad, but a glandular mass of a nature which defied diagnosis.
