Among the projects in which the B.T.C. and private firms have a common interest is the development of a satisfactory commutatorless motor; commutation difficulties with rectified d.c. for the motors of the 25 kV. a.c. multiple-unit stock, for example, have led to many experiments with and modifications of the inter-pole magnetic circuit.
