l weld a short piece of steel stock to each side of the sissy bar. The steel is still hot from the welding, so a quick shot from teh acetylene torch makes them easy to bend. I use a box-end wrench to provide leverage for bending. Take care to make sure the final position matches from side to side or your sissy bar will look unbalanced.
