Greyhound racing was an inter-war phenomenon that, like speedway, enjoyed a briefish golden age after the war, peaking as early as 1946, when total attendances of 30 million were not far short of football and the night of the Greyhound Derby at White City stadium coincided with no fewer than 44 race meetings on other British tracks.
