A new method for direct sequence analysis of DNA restriction fragments uses synthetic covalently linked complementary oligodeoxynucleotides, as universal sequencing primer linkers (splinkers). These splinkers were designed to contain an inverted repeat sequence which forms a double-stranded hairpin structure with a known restriction site. The splinkers were characterized by their ability to be self-ligating (dimerized) and by their restriction digest product analysis of both the monomer and dimer.
Intrapatient dose escalation is chosen as an example of innovative dosing strategies because it is precisely the proscription of individualized (i.e., within-patient) dose adjustments that most clearly demonstrated to my patients how research interests trump their medical interests.
I learnt to develop a ‘feel’ for the sinciput and the occiput as these landmarks feel different abdominally, and also their ‘whereabouts’ in relationship to the pelvic brim. Therefore, when descent and flexion were taking place, I learnt to ascertain how the positions of the sinciput and occiput would change in relationship to each other and in relationship to the pelvic brim.
