Monophysitism is contrary to the orthodox view (as established and consolidated over several ecumenical councils) that Christ has two natures, being both fully human and fully divine. A variant is Apollinarianism, which has gnostic overtones and used Hellenistic ideas alien to what came to be accepted as orthodox Christianity.
