In the Caucasus (especially in Armenia and Georgia) and in Asia Minor as well as the Altai, but also in northern areas, where flax is grown together with garden rocket, the false flax, Camelina sativa and C. linicola, occur also as specialized weeds and at the same time as cultivated plants, and behave similarly to garden rocket (Tsinger, 1909).
Many are concerned that the quasi-eschatological emphasis on the Anthropocene as epochal, planetary rupture can obscure the driving forces behind the great acceleration (basically, Western industrialization and capital, rather than mankind ), and the fact that not everybody on the planet has had the same role in the story (Malm and Hornborg, 2014; Moore, 2014; Collard et al., 2015; Haraway, 2015). Capitalocene and Oliganthropocene – the variations polemically proposed by Jason Moore and Erik Swyngedouw – epitomize well such concerns.
In such a situation, Steyerl advocates, echoing Benjamin, an updated form of critical-cultural barbarism in the guise of a strategy of 'circulationism' – an emphasis on 'postproducing, launching, and accelerating' an image.
