The great writers of the sixteenth century are either veilers or unveilers. The veilers use allegorical techniques to express concepts dangerous to the author, unacceptable to the reader, or engaging for being artfully posed.
Even though the longer ending of Mark is itself secondary, its wording was no more immune to corruption than any other portion of the New Testament text (as scribes would normally not know they were corrupting a corruption).
