（現代では使われなくなった形）「dispense」と同義で、分配する、供給する、施すという意味。

Though archaic, the manual tells the apothecary to dispence remedies with careful measurements.

古風ではあるが、その手引きは薬屋に用量を慎重に測って薬を調剤するよう指示している。
