金属製のゴングと太鼓。古代の戦争において軍隊に合図や命令を伝えるために用いられた打楽器の総称。
古代の軍営では、角笛の音が鳴ると、ゴングと太鼓の力強い音色が兵士たちを奮い立たせ、戦いの始まりを告げた。
