The incident occurred when the 1111 Fenchurch Street-Southend Central passed over Mucking automatic half-barrier level crossing (between East Tilbury and Stanford-le-Hope) just six seconds after a lorry partially loaded with concrete had reversed off the crossing. The train was travelling at 57mph at the time.
