Results of analyzing Exo1 with the InterProScan [ 24 ] software at the Carbohydrate Active Enzymes database ( http://www.cazy.org/ ) [ 38 ], suggests that Exo1 belongs to the Glycoside Hydrolase Family 5 (GH5), which includes enzymes with cellulase or xylanase activity [i.e., endoglucanase (Enzyme Commission number [ 39 ]: EC 3.2.1.4), xylanase (EC 3.2.1.8), exo-1,3-glucanase (EC 3.2.1.58), endo-1,6-glucanase (EC 3.2.1.75), β-mannanase (EC 3.2.1.78), and endoglycoceramidase (EC 3.2.1.123)].
