Herod

The name of any of a number of members of the Herodian dynasty who ruled in the Roman province of Judea.

The biblical king who is said to have ordered the execution of all baby boys under the age of two in the town of Bethlehem and the surrounding region, as he saw Jesus as a threat to his rule; identified with Herod the Great.
