宇宙空間で宇宙船の外に出て行う作業や活動のこと。英語の「extravehicular activity (EVA)」に相当する。
宇宙ステーションで、宇宙飛行士は船外活動を通じて故障した機器を修理し、任務の円滑な進行を確保しています。
