健康は何よりの財産だ。

Health is the greatest wealth.

彼の息子が車を直しているのを見たとき、私は考えました。リンゴは木から遠く落ちない。

When I saw his son fixing the car, I thought: the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

老人は孫を見ながらつぶやいた。『青春は狂気だ、橋のあるところで溝を飛び越える』。

The old man muttered as he looked at his grandson: 'Youth is madness; people jump across a ditch even where there is a bridge.'

古いことわざが言うように、自分でベッドを整えたのだから、そのベッドで寝るしかない。だから自分の決断に責任を持ちなさい。

An old proverb says: as you make your bed, so you must lie in it, so take responsibility for your decisions.

私たちの討論では、よく話す者は多くを知っているか、あるいは多く嘘をついていることが明らかになったので、私たちは健全な懐疑心を持って耳を傾けるべきだ。

In our discussion it became clear that the person who talks a lot either knows a lot or lies a lot, so we should listen with a healthy degree of skepticism.
