(medicine) A severity score validated for predicting mortality in community-acquired pneumonia, often used to determine the need for hospital admission. It comprises five risk factors: confusion of new onset; blood urea nitrogen > 7 mmol/L; respiratory rate ≥ 30/minute; systolic blood pressure < 90 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure ≤ 60 mmHg; age ≥ 65 years.
