建築用語としての「stump tracery」は、後期ドイツ・ゴシック様式に見られる透かし彫り（トレイサリー）の一形式です。モールディングされたバー（装飾の溝状の部分）が、その曲線美の中で自らを交差しているように見え、途中で途切れているため、各「スタンプ」（切り落とされた部分）の先端にモールディングの一部が露出する特徴があります。
