通常とは逆に、大気中で下層の空気が冷たく、上層の空気が温かい状態となる現象。その温かい空気層が下層の冷たい空気を覆い、通常の大気循環を妨げ、汚染物質が閉じ込められる状況を指す。 / 逆温現象または逆転層とも呼ばれ、上空に温かい空気が位置し、その下に冷たい空気があるために、空気の垂直的な混合が抑制される大気現象。
