立体異性の一種で、二重結合や環構造などのために結合順序は同じだが、原子や置換基の空間的配置が異なることで互いに異なる性質を示す分子のこと。旧来は二重結合のcis/trans異性体や環状化合物のシス/トランス異性体を指して用いられた。 / 有機化学で用いられた古い用語で、現在のIUPACではより一般的な「立体異性体」や「E/Z異性体」などの用語に置き換えられている分子種。
