In Hsi-shuang-pan-na T‘ai Autonomous Region of Yunnan Province, near the Burmese border, there are countless small monasteries generally composed of a Buddha hall, monks’ quarters, and one or two pagodas all enclosed by a wall and decorated in the regional Sino-Burmese style.
