The legs are of the heavy bulbous type common at this time, turned in the cup and cover form, and carved with nullings and acanthus leafwork.
The aroma is mildly sweet and lagery with pleasant hops; very pale gold color; the taste is clean and fresh, mildly malty, with a touch of hops in both the middle and finish; a remarkably thin body and lots of carbonation.
This is, indeed, an awful meal[…] and there is a detestable, indigestible, unswallowable jam roly-poly to follow.
These [black-eared flying foxes (Pteropus melanotus, formerly edulis)] I have now in captivity (five in number) are fed on goolars, (Ficus glomerata), which they chew in the manner above mentioned, until they have extracted all the juice, when the remaining pulp is ejected out of the mouth.
