Since Marx was primarily concerned with interpreting the history of human society, but not with a theory about how to install a society which does away with the shortcomings which he detected, he was not a Socialist. Hence, the term Marxism is a necessary one. The terms Leninism, Stalinism and Trotzkism are necessary, because they designate conflicting views on Socialism (Trotzki was assasinated in Mexico by Lenins emissaries, Stalinism was brandmarked after Stalin´s death). Breznjewism doesn´t exist, because Breznjew was a Leninist. Gorbatschowism doesn´t exist, because Gorbatschow is associated with Glasnost and Perestroika.
