Necessary and productive as a many-heddled loom is, there is something basic and satisfying about covering each warp thread by hand, in a tapestry or needle technique.

We believe the majority of Swiss guides use the Swiss loop at the end of the rope, and the openhanded loop in the middle.

It was constructed from local materials and completed in 1842; it is Victorian but looks Romanesque; Ruskinian in its simplicity, it pre-dates Ruskin by a decade.

The latter are not elementals but spirits of the Genii order, and correspond to the inferior gods of the invisible world.
