This prohibition was already present in Leviticus 21:18, where it is written that men with charum, that is, men with flat noses, cannot become priests in the temple. In fact, the Internet, for political if not commercial causes, turns out to be a way to efficiently reach people whose very engagement (even overengagement) separates them most from ordinary zhlubby citizens.
