Japanese Meaning

装飾用の大文字。イタリック体で、上部と下部に装飾的な筆致・フローリッシュが施され、書体のバランスを整えるために用いられる。

章の冒頭で不格好な改行を避けるため、デザイナーは段落の先頭に見苦しい隙間を埋める目的で上部と下部に飾りのある斜体の大文字を挿入した。
