Venus zone

Noun

A theoretical orbital zone around a star that will result in an Earth-like planet existing in an orbit in the zone having a runaway greenhouse effect, similar to that found on Venus in our Solar System. The inner edge of the zone is where solar radiation is intense enough to strip the atmosphere of a planet away. The outer edge is where solar radiation is insufficient to power a runaway greenhouse.

理論上、恒星の周りの軌道上に存在する範囲で、この領域に位置する地球型惑星が、金星のような温室効果の暴走現象を発生する可能性があることを示す。 / 内側の境界は、太陽放射が十分に強く、惑星の大気を剥ぎ取ってしまう点を示す。 / 外側の境界は、温室効果の暴走を引き起こすのに十分な太陽放射が得られない点を示す。
