製粉所において、穀物を挽いた粉（ミール）を乾燥させるため、円を描くように動いて粉を広げ、床の開口部から落とすように導くレーキ状の道具

夜明けに、その製粉所の回転式熊手はゆっくりと回転し、粉を大きな円に広げながら床の開口部に向かって導き、下の槽へと落ちていった。
