Japanese Meaning

もらった贈り物に対して、ありがたみを欠いた疑問や精査をしてはいけない、つまり無償のものには文句を言わずに受け取るべきである。 / 贈り物はそのまま受け取り、細かい点に目を光らせず、感謝して受け取るべきという戒め。

隣人が余分な感謝祭用の七面鳥をくれたとき、冷蔵庫が空だったことを思い出し、自分に「いただいたものに文句を言ってはいけない」と言い聞かせました。
