「-ied」は、語尾が「y」となる動詞の過去分詞・過去形、またはその分詞形形容詞を作るための接尾辞です。 / 「y」を除去し、「-i-」を挿入した上で「-ed」を付加する形になる接尾辞です。

「hurry」のような語尾が y の動詞の過去分詞を作るとき、話者は語尾の y を変えて、語尾に -ed の変形（語尾が y の動詞に用いられる）を付けて「hurried」を作ることが多いです。
