発生学において、buccopharyngeal膜の前に位置する、発生中の口蓋の屋根に形成されるくぼみであり、このくぼみから前葉下垂体（adenohypophysis）が発生する構造。

During embryonic development, Rathke's pouch forms from an invagination of the stomodeum and later differentiates into the adenohypophysis.
