Japanese Meaning

遺体に対して行われる見送りや追悼の儀式。すなわち、遺体の埋葬前に行われる通夜に類する風習を指す（特にスコットランドの古語として用いられる）。

The family held a lich-wake beside the hearth, keeping vigil over the body all night.

家族は炉辺で通夜を行い、夜通し遺体のそばで見守った。
