(Islam) The call to prayer, which consisted originally of simply four takbirs followed by the statement لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا ٱلله (lā ʾilāha ʾillā llāh) (أَشْهَدُ أَنْ) ((ʾašhadu ʾan)).
